Daniel Fischer is born in 1978 in Zürich. He attended secondary school at Klettgau-Gymnasium Waldshut-Tiengen (Germany) from 1989 till 1998. After one year of civil service, he studied chemistry at ETH Zürich from 1999 till 2004, with stays at Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne(5th semester), Ecole Polytechnique de Paris with Prof. F. Mathey (summer 2003) and Imperial College London with Prof. V. Gibson (Diploma Work).
After an eight month internship at BASF AG in Ludwigshafen/Germany with Dr. H.-J. Sterzel (Ammonlabor), he started his Ph.D. in the group of Prof. Peters in January 2005.

He is currently working on the synthesis and evaluation of chiral transition metal complexes for homogeneous catalysis.
